If you’re a writer from a developing country, say Nigeria, and you came of age in the 1950s and ’60s, chances are a major theme of your fiction, essays, and poems is politics, colonialism, independence. Think Wole Soyinka or Chinua Achebe. But the younger generation of writers from Nigeria have veered away from politics, and the feeling that they have to somehow represent or fight for their country.

A comic collector has been caught in Spider-Man’s web, paying $US1.1 million (about N170m) for a copy of Amazing Fantasy No. 15, the comic book that features the American super-hero’s 1962 debut. An Associated Press reports says the issue, first published in 1962, was sold on Monday by a private seller to a private buyer.
