Odemwingie says he is more mature now

Super Eagles striker, Osaze Odemwingie, on Thursday described himself as a more mature player and now eager to improve on his previous outings at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
Odemwingie told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on arrival of the Eagles at the OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg that he hoped to play closer to the goal to score more goals in Angola.
``I’ve grown older compared to my first Nation’s Cup years back. I’m much matured and a better player so my goal and target is higher than before.
``I hope to be playing closer to the goal to be able to score more than I did before,’’
said Odemwingie, who attracted more attention at the airport as a result of his commitment to the squad.
The Russia-based striker said he looked forward to playing in the final game of the tournament as he believed the team was capable of getting there.
``Let’s hope we play up to our potentials and get our position in the Nations Cup that people expect from us.
``I want to play in the final and we have the players who can do it.
``Of course with support, lots of encouragement and good organisation on the field also, everything will be okay,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the Eagles face Egypt, Republic of Benin and Mozambique in Group C.
Odemwingie recently won the maiden Nigeria Footballer of the Year Award organised by the African Independent Television (AIT) held in Abuja. (NAN)
