NPL advises Lagerback

Chief Oyuki Obaseki, Chairman Nigeria Premier League (NPL), yesterday in Abuja urged the Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Lars Lagerback to hunt for players from the national league.
Obaseki said that the Premier league has a cream of talented players who could replace the aging ones in the senior national team.
``The thought of the NPL to get players, that is the beginning of success if he knows what he wants,’’ said Obaseki said in his goodwill message to the Super Eagles technical adviser.
The NPL chairman advised Lagerback in the message to better Nigeria’s lot in the World cup finals.
``We are not advising the coach to go and bring the cup, the cup can come by accident. Not that we are saying go and win the cup, no, go and better our lot.
``If he is able to get to either quarter final or semi final, is that not okay for us?,’’ he asked.
Obaseki said that the Swedish born tactician might have the chances of his five-month contract being extended if he performed well.
``If he does well now his contract may be extended for another one, two, three years,’’ Obaseki said.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday unveiled the Super Eagles’ new technical adviser.
Lagerback is on a contract with the mandate to take the Super Eagles to 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Largerback said after the unveiling ceremony that he would hunt for the best players to represent Nigeria in South Africa.
