Enyimba battle Gombe to reclaim top spot - As Pillars seek consolidation against Tornadoes

The Aba side survived scares from visiting Academica Petroleos de Kwanda of Angola, beating them 3-0 to qualify for the quarter final of the CAF Confederation Cup on 3-2 aggregate, having lost the first leg 0-2 in Cabinda.
Enyimba slipped to the second position after staying at the top for over seven weeks, as Kano Pillars who defeated their last weekend’s hosts Kaduna United 1-0 now occupy the pole spot.
Therefore, The Peoples confront Gombe, their target is to win and reclaim their position on the league table, especially if current leaders Pillars who are home to Niger Tornadoes fail to make maximum use of their home support.
But on their part, Gombe United who are also a hard nut to crack, would apply all arsenals in their armoury to clinch a vital away win against for CAF Champions League winners to brighten their continental ambition.

Coach Okey Emordi said he is not leaving any to chance in his effort to return with his charges to the highest continental club competition at the end of the season.

“We respect Enyimba but we are not going to take them lightly, I can’t tell you the outcome but I want you to know that we are going to confront them with all our strength from the beginning to the end”, Garba stated.
Meanwhile, Pillars who boosted their chances of winning the league for the second time in three years with a 1-0 win over host Kaduna United will face daunting task against Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
Pillars have made the Sani Abacha Stadium their slaughter slab for visiting team, and they are looking forward to maintain the good run against their today’s foes who are also noted for providing stiff opposition against their opponents.
A win for Pillars would consolidate their hold on the title chase, and they will be counting on their northern brothers Gombe to slow down Enyimba for them to extend the lead at the top by wining or at least pulling a draw in Aba tomorrow.
