Speaking to Hoops Center, coach of the team said it is necessary for his team to beat the defending champions again to prove in clear terms that that performance in Kano was not a fluke.
He said although they have tremendous respect for First Bank that does not mean the Lagos club is completely different from the remaining clubs in the league.
Coach Isokpehi explained that none of the teams in the now competitive female basketball League is not a push over and this is what the defeats to First Deepwater and his team has taught First bank.
The coach said in as much as First Bank would like to take back its pound of the flesh when next they meet, it will not be easy for them to revenge that Kano defeat because his girls are battle ready.
He said as all the clubs immediately returned to the drawing board to correct their mistakes, Sunshine Angels were not left out and would like to put into practice what they have learnt.
“There is no big deal about our victory over First Bank. We look at them as any other team in the League. Although it was not easy to beat the defending champions, we achieved that feat and our next target is to beat them again.
“If they think our victory over them was an accident, we are ready to prove them wrong. By the time we meet again in the second phase, we should be able to prove once again our superiority over them. But this is not to suggest that we would take things for granted”, he stated.
The coach reiterated that the second phase of the league will be tougher as most of the clubs have gone back to strategize for better performance.
He disclosed that: “Any moment from now, we are going to resume camping. After a hectic first phase, we allowed the players sometime off for them to recover for us to prepare better for the challenges ahead.
“We are afraid of any club in the league but that is not to say we don’t know the consequences of over confidence”.
