Korea Coach: ‘We’re ready for Nigeria’

Korea coach, Huh Jung-Moo, has boasted that despite the heavy defeat by Group B leaders Argentina his team will be prepared for their final Group B showdown against Nigeria on June 22 in Durban.
Argentina virtually guaranteed themselves a ticket to the knockout stage of the World Cup with two victories in as many matches, while South Korea have recorded three points courtesy of their 2-0 win over Greece in their opening group game.
Nigeria are pointless but could still sail through to the next round if they beat Korea 1-0 and Argentina beat Greece in the other Group B match.
“We will be thoroughly prepared for our last group match against Nigeria because everything will come down to this match,” said Jung-Moo after his team lost 4-1 to Argentina at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Thursday.
“This match is extremely important and it will determine whether or not we progress past the first round.”
The clash between Korea and Nigeria will be the first meeting between the two sides at the World Cup.
The Korea coach said the loss to Argentina has taught his team a few lessons going into the showdown against the “Super Eagles.”
“We learnt a few lessons (versus Argentina) for our next game,” he said.
“Argentina were lucky with their first goal, but overall our players fought very hard even though we could not control the flow of the game.
That was the decisive factor in this match.
“I would also say that the turning point of the match was when Yeom Ki Hun failed to score with the scores still at 2-1 in the second half. Had he scored, it would probably have been a different outcome to this game.”
