The ex-international told Trustsports in a telephone interview that he was not supervised that Nigeria has not impressed at the global soccer fiesta because they did not prepare for the tournament.
According to him, poor preparation has been the team’s major undoing, as the players’ performances have shown that they are not fit to play in the world biggest soccer showpiece.
Binebi, who questioned the strength of the Eagles to face Korea, stated that he was afraid the Super Eagles players will not be able to match the fast-playing Koreans who will be out for a win to confirm their place in the second round of the event.
“We did not prepare for the World Cup and the results we have so far got is the product of that; as a result of the same lack of preparation, our players are not physically fit, so we have a slim chance against Korea.
“The World Cup and football in general is a game for the youths, which is why most of the countries are parading young teams”.
When asked what will be his advise to Lagerback as the team prepares to face Korea Republic in its last group match on Tuesday, Binebi said the Swede soccer tactician should parade young players like Dele Adeleye, Chinedu Obasi, Obinna Nsofor and the likes of Obafemi Martins and Rabiu Afolabi as part of re-building exercise for the future.
“This is the time to re-build and my advise to the coach is that, in the match against Korea, Lagerback should bring in Dele Adeleye, Rabiu Afolabi, Yusuf Ayinla in the defence, Obafemi, Obinna Nsofor and Chinedu Obasi in the attack because we need fast attackers”, Binebi stated.
