Pillars vow to stand firm against Kwara Utd

Chief Coach of Kano Pillars Salisu Yusuf has said he is in Ilorin to take the maximum points from Kwara United because he wants to claim the top spot on the league table.
Speaking to Trustsports, the former Flying Eagles assistant coach said in as much as he has respect for Kwara United’s handler, Kadiri Ikhana, he will still go ahead to inflict defeat on United in their backyard.
He, however admitted that it will be a tough one for his boys because having lost their week two match, Kwara United would certainly put in everything to win in order to climb out of the danger zone on the table.
“We don’t go into a match with the mind to lose or draw. We are in Ilorin to take home the three points at stake. This is not to undermine the ability of Kwara United players to give my boys a serious fight. It will be a difficult match but my boys will rise to the occasion. They will come out smoking but we would contain them”.
Meanwhile, Kwara United’s new signing from the Kwara Football Academy, Nanen Barnabas Imenger has said his primary concern is to keep scoring to justify the confidence reposed in him by the club’s management.
The son of former international scored his side’s goal against Kaduna United and is not afraid of mixing with the bigger boys.
He said football is about talent and self confidence so those who think his performance will be a flash in the pan will be in for a surprise as the league progresses.
“Football is not played by big names. What matters is performance on the field of play. We shall go all out for victory against Pillars. This is not to say we do not have respect for the team”.
