NFF to vet Siasia list Tuesday

The list of Super Eagles players penciled down for the international friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana on August 9 in London will be made public next week as the technical committee which has received the list from the team coach, Samson Siasia will meet on Tuesday to scrutinize it before it would be released.

The list was to be made public yesterday but the Chief Media Officer of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Ademola Olajire told Shot! that it was not possible to release it because it has to be vetted by the technical committee.

He said the committee which is headed by Barrister Chris Green will meet and examine the list with the aim of making necessary inputs before it would be released.

“The technical committee will vet the list of Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has submitted for the August 9 international friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana.

“The committee will meet next week Tuesday to look at the list with the aim of making inputs, if necessary. It is just normal that such a list should be seen and approved by the committee”, he explained.

He said as soon as the committee takes a look at it, it would be released.

Meanwhile, out of favour striker, Osaze Odemwingie who had a brush with the team’s chief coach is expected to make the list following recent reports that he has been pardoned.

It will be recalled that the West Brom forward was banned from the team by Siasia over what he described as unprofessional behavior after the player left the team’s camp in Abuja without approval.

His ban elicited different reactions with most football fans making a case for him to be recalled to the team, especially after the 1-1 draw in Adis Ababa which has put the team’s 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualification in the balance.

In addition, there are indications that Siasia would give former youth internationals Brown Ideye and Emmanuel Ekpo the opportunity to fight for places in the team.

Ideye, Dynamo Kiev’s new signing is one player most Nigerian football fans want to see in the team due to his recent exploits in Europe.

Ekpo who plies his trade in America is also favoured to get a look in having played for the 2008 Olympics team which won a silver medal in China under coach Siasia.
