Speaking to Trustsports yesterday, Ukaigwe said the match is going to be difficult but in the end, Falcons would beat their opponents convincingly to make the return leg a mere formality.
She said the mistake which was made in the case of the Black Queens of Ghana would not be allowed to repeat itself as she said winning today’s match would certainly brighten the team’s chances of picking the ticket to Maputo.
According to her, Falcons lost the ticket to the 2011 All Africa Games here in Abuja when the team could not beat the Black Queens of Ghana.
“I want to assure Nigerians that Falcons will surely fly over the Lionesses of Cameroon. They are not new to us. We know that any match involving Cameroon and Nigeria is always very difficult but going by the morale in camp, I can confidently say that we are battle ready.
“The camp is bubbling as we have the full complement of our foreign based players. They arrived in time for the match and have been training hard. The players have resolved not just to win but to win convincingly. This is not to say we are looking down on our opponents.
“They also have their eyes on the ticket but we need it more than them. We are not going to settle for anything less than outright victory in tomorrow’s (today) match”, she assured.
Meanwhile, the Lionesses arrived Abuja Thursday afternoon and have been lodged at Chida Hotel.
Officials for Saturday’s cracker, which is the first of a two-leg final qualifying fixture for next year’s Summer Olympic’s Women’s Football Tournament, have also been flown into Abuja. The match commissioner is Mrs Anastasia Tsichlas from South Africa, while the referees are all from Uganda.

Super Falcons coordinator and female football administrator, Henrietta Ukaigwe has expressed confidence that the female national football team will soar over the indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon today at the Abuja National Stadium.
