NFF co-coordinators dare Suleiman

Zonal Coordinators of the Nigeria Football Federation appear to have set the stage for battle with Sport Minister  Yusuf Suleiman, with a directive to the NFF to withdraw from further participation in the activities of the Nigeria Football Reform Committee set up by the minister.

This is coming less than three months after the stormy atmosphere in the nation’s football sector has subsided.

The coordinators, drawn from the six geopolitical zones of the country, specifically directed the their parent body to withdraw from the committee recently set up by Sports Minister, Yusuf Suleiman to reform the country’s football.

The coordinators, who stated this after a meeting in Abuja, argued that one of the parties to the crisis that led to the setting up of the committee has breached an agreement earlier reached with the minister for all parties to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign.

According to them, leader of National Association of Nigerian Footballers (NANF), who doubles as a member of the reform committee, Harrison Jalla recently dragged members of the NFF Executive Committee to the security agencies for allege documents falsification.

“The Coordinators advised the NFF to withdraw from further participation, with immediate effect, from the activities and resolutions of the ministerial committee on the reform of football in Nigeria in the interest of football, as a contending party in the committee has breached the terms and spirit of the agreement reached with the Honorable Minister and Chairman National Sports Commission”, the coordinators stated.

The statement, read by Chidi Offor Okenwa, also appealed to all Nigerians to support the newly appointed Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi to a good job for Nigeria.
