At the end of the tournament, the company presented a cheque of N2 million in addition to the amount raised during the registration for the tournament to City of Refuge Orphanage, an Abuja-based charity organization as its contributions.
The Managing Director of Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Guy Maurice said the contribution might not to be much but it represents the desire to give back to the society just as he called on other corporate organizations to extend the scope and reach of their CSR initiatives to cover the less privileged.
He said: “The tournament has also provided an opportunity to network and hone our golfing skills. For others the event has further deepened our interest in the exciting world of golf and its limitless opportunities”.
Some of the changes made in the tournament included replacement of cash prizes with trophies and identifying a charity organization every year to donate the sum generated.
Mr O. Okeke was declared the overall winner of the tournament with 39 points.
In addition, the company honoured some distinguished personalities who supported the tournament. They include the Emir of Suleja, Alhaji Auwal Ibrahim, former finance minister, Alhaji Adamu Chiroma, NNPC Group Managing Director, Engr Austen Oniwon, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development Board, Engr. Ernest Nwafa and Total Managing Director, Guy Maurice.

Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria has transformed its Annual Golf Tournament to a charity game, as part of re-engineering its corporate Social Responsibility philosophy. This year’s tournament was the 16th in the series took place at the IBB Golf Club in Abuja over the weekend.At the end of the tournament, the company presented a cheque of N2 million in addition to the amount raised during the registration for the tournament to City of Refuge Orphanage, an Abuja-based charity organization as its contributions.
