Mutiu Adepoju, the General Manager of Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan, has said that the club is currently undergoing a restructuring and not disbandment, as was earlier reported by a section of the media.
Adepoju told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ibadan that the restructuring became necessary in order to reposition the club for a better performance in the 2012 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season.
NAN reports that the club managed to escape relegation from the premier league only in the last game of the season after it scraped through with a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi.
``It is not total disbandment, but disengagement of certain individuals for the purposes of restructuring the club and I am fully involved,’’ Adepoju said.
Meanwhile, the club’s Public Relations Officer, Jubril Arowolo, confirmed the ongoing developments within the club which he said were to place the club on a better footing for next season.
``The government retained Adepoju in his former position, with all his privileges intact, while the others were asked to re-apply,’’Arowolo said. (NAN)
