Hassan Adeyinka, Muideen Olayiwola of Gideon Club and Tolu Durosimi-Etti, Funke Hassan of Nigeria Police have emerged as winners of the Men and Women’s Doubles at the ongoing Asoju-Oba Table Tennis Tournament in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the duo defeated both Joseph Osendikwu and Bashiru Shobayo of Rowe Park club in three straight sets of 11-9, 11-7 and 11-7 (3-0).Durosimi-Etti and Hassan defeated Aminat Fashola and Fatimoh Bello of Union Bank 3-2 (4-11, 11-6, 3-11, 11-8 and 11-2)
Funke Lawal and Modinat Yusuf of Surmer Club prevailed over Rihanatu Fatunbi and Bose Akinsete their club mates to emerge winners in the Junior Girls Doubles.
The unattached pair of Rilwan Akanbi and Iskil Ibrahim also upstaged Raji Azeez and Udoh Gharzar of summer club to emerge winners of the Junior Boys Doubles.
Meanwhile, Ranti Lajide, coordinator of the tournament, said in Lagos that the tournament had been devoid of biased officiating.
He said that he was happy at the effort players were exerting in order to clinch the 17 titles at stake in the tournament.
``I think the result has been a good, free from biased calls and complaints, and all the participating players have exhibited good skills,” he said.
NAN reports that finals of the Men and Women’s Singles are scheduled for Friday at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Sports Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere
