Babalola warned that failure of the Kaduna United officials to settle the outstanding arrears for the match to hold on the appointed date would attract heavy sanction from the league governing body, which is bent of ensuring that players are treated fairly.
“We are not shelving the league’s kick off date as being canvassed by many, rather all the week one league matches will hold tomorrow (today), except the match involving Kaduna United and Jigawa Golden Stars .
“We have ordered the match shifted to Wednesday next week to allow Kaduna United settle the outstanding allowances owed their players before playing any match. We are taking this step because we don’t any club to owe its players, who are the main actors in the league”, Babalola stated.

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) yesterday said all matches in the opening week of the 2012 league season will take place today, except the match involving two northern teams, Kaduna United and Jigawa Golden Stars. Speaking in a telephone interview with our reporter, NPL Executive Secretary Tunji Babalola explained that the Kaduna battle was cancelled to allow the Kaduna side settles all outstanding allowances owed its playing staff from the last soccer season.According to him, the reschedule match will now hold on Wednesday next week at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
