Heartland unveil 13 players

Heartland FC of Owerri has unveiled 13 new players for the 2011/2012 season.

The newcomers are to beef up Heartland’s squad for the ongoing campaign in the league and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The players include Hawks of Togo defender, Emmanuel Mathias, Ghanaian striker, James Amankwei, home-based Eagles duo of Uche Oguchi and Kabiru Umar.

Others are former Enugu Rangers player, Brendan Ogbu, Abdul Haruna from Kano Pillars, Chigozie Christopher from Dolphins, Jolly Osarumwense from Zamfara United and Lobi Stars’ duo of Arinze Nwosu and Danladi Isah.

Included in the choice list are Kemeh Thomas from Juth, Peter Gyang from Plateau Utd and Dream Team IV captain, Kingsley Udoh who is making a return to the Naze Millionaires.

The state Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Hon Kenneth Emelu performed the ceremonial presentation of jerseys to each of the players.

Earlier, Heartland boss, Chief Fan Ndubuoke told SuperSport.com that the club went far and wide in search for quality players so that they can contest effectively for trophies.

“What we have done is to go for the best that will give us results.

“With the crop of new players coupled with the old ones, Heartland has already positioned itself for titles.

“It is now our duty to go to the field and achieve our aims,” he said.

Heartland lost their season opener to newly promoted Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and has a chance to redeem their image against ABS FC in Owerri on Sunday.
