As part of his contributions to ensuring that the Super Eagles beat the Lone Star of Liberia on October 13, the governor of Cross Rivers State, Senator Liyel Imoke has ordered that the prices of gate fees should be slashed considerably to ensure that the U.J Esuene stadium is filled to capacity.
The governor’s directive is aimed at attracting fans to the ground which is gradually becoming the national team’s home ground.The stadium had hosted matches involving the Super Eagles and Namibia as well as Rwanda.
Senator Imoke, who spoke through his Sports Commissioner, Hon Patrick Ugbe yesterday said the popular side will be charged at N300, from its original N500, covered seats will attract N1000, down from its original N3000, while the State Box Extension is going for N3000 from the N5000, that is usually charged.
Hon Ugbe, also revealed that the government has re-grassed the Abraham Ordia Sports Complex, where the Eagles normally train and its now wearing a new look while some patches noticed at the UJ Esuene Stadium, have since been put right.
“It’s in keeping with our maintenance culture in Cross River and also to ensure that the pitch is in good shape for our top players to strut their stuff come October 13”, he said.
