It was attended by the governors of Niger (Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu), Nasarawa, (Alhaji Tanko Almakura), Kaduna (Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa), Kogi (Capt. Idris Wada), Benue (Mr Gabriel Suswam, represented by his deputy), the FCT Minister; and the deputy governor of Plateau representing Governor Jonah Jang as observer.
The FCT Minister commented that member-governors decided to jointly convene the meeting to synergize the joint security exertions through the instrumentality of the G-6 Security Summit Initiative; he restated that the determination for invigorating the inventiveness was to bring together and connect the determinations of the contributing states in confronting the recurrence of violence and other crimes within the neighbouring areas of the G-6 zone.
Consequently, it is a joint exertion to invigorate this principled initiative with a view to developing an inter-state work in partnership network for the synchronization and organization of security tactics; with an emphasis it should also support in the exchange of information/procedures for planned tracking and handling of criminals and their sponsors with the implied aim of inhibiting their determination and distribution over a considerable extent of the zone.
Mohammed bemoaned the fact that Nigeria is going through excruciating times in terms of its economic and security challenges; he evoked that throughout the height of this security partnership in the past, the occurrences of crime and its related pestilence within the G-6 zone was reduced to the simplest, with an emphasis that success achieved should provide incentive to member states geared towards better efforts and cooperation in the bid of guaranteeing enhanced security of lives and property of citizenry in the G-6 zone.
The communiqué issued at the end of the summit said it is inclusive but not constrained to the following resolutions; there was a unanimous adoption of the entry of Plateau State into the G-6 security procedure; it was therefore resolved that the acronym would now read G-7 Security Summit. In view of the hiatus that occurred in terms of regular convening of the summit, the technical committee should holistically review all the previous findings and endorsements in reports with the aim of articulating genuine points for implementations to be presented at the next G-7 Security Summit.
Security status in Abuja may not be wholly bereft of crime with the addition of terrorism, but it is also right to say that the FCT is today the safest place in Nigeria, and the FCT Administration has ensured that crime waves have reduced to single digits. Ironically, the information on crime obtainable at the security department suggests a major decline in crime, even with the new security challenges.

The resuscitation of the G-6 security group from a two-year hiatus is commendable, largely in light of the serious security challenges that have engulfed the nation in recent times. The initiative is to confront new security challenges across the communicable states of Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benue and FCT.
