Court strikes out Shema’s case against ex-SSG

A State High Court in Katsina, Katsina State has on Thursday struck out a case filed by Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema against the former secretary to Katsina state government, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa for alleged defamation of character.
At the resumed hearing, Justice Abdullahi Yusuf struck out the case on ground that both the plaintiff and his counsels were not serious about that case for not attending the court session twice.“During our last sitting, both the plaintiff and his counsels were not in the court and today (Thursday) they were also absent and no reason was given for their absence, so it shows they are not serious about this case and as a result this honorable court has struck out the case,” he ruled.
It would be recalled that Governor Shema has instituted a legal action against the former secretary to Katsina State Government, Dr Inuwa, over alleged defamation of character.
Shema, according to a writ of summons with reference number: KTH/70/2012, dated 8th October 2012, which was obtained by Weekly Trust accused Inuwa of making defamatory statement on his person and claimed a damage of N1 billion.
