On Kwari Market fire disaster

Although every true Muslim believer must believe in both good and bad fate, the recurrent fire outbreak particularly in northern Nigeria is one of too many that occurs with no apparent reasons. First of all, a committee should be formed to investigate these incidents with a view to finding out causes and measures to be applied in order to minimize fire outbreak accidents.
What happened last week in Kano showed the apparent negligence of our leaders. Kano as a commercial nerve centre of northern Nigeria should have not only a government-owned fire fighting unit but also a number of privately-owned fire fighting outfits. The recent fire disaster has further exposed how ill-equipped NEMA is because it could not boast of having a helicopter in Kano, until very late when it procured one from as far as Abuja when all has been burnt .This is a shame. Now that it had happened and many suffering people had lost their hard-earned possession, the state government must come up with preventive measures like modernizing the market and assisting those who lost properties in the accident. May Allah reward those who lost their properties, amin.
