70 female basketballers for clinic in Abeokuta

Over seventy female basketball players are expected to participate in the forthcoming female basketball clinics scheduled to hold at Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta between August 4th - 8th, 2009.
The clinic tagged “Hope 4 Girls Basketball Camp” is being organized by Hope 4 Girls Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in conjunction with the Ogun State Government will feature five United States of America (USA) coaches as well as five other Nigerian coaches outlined to contribute their quota towards the success of the event.
Making this known in Lagos was the initiator of the programme, Bolaji Akiode, former female national player who said the camp is aimed at providing young girls the platform for career development and education.
Akiode stressed “five coaches from United States of America have already signified their intention of conducting the clinic, along with other five local coaches drawn from various clubs in the country, they are Adesola Ogunnade from First Deepwater Basketball team, Taye Adeniyi, Angela Nzekwe, head coach of Imo State Basketball Association and Adeka Audu of immigration”.
Furthermore, Akiode, who commended the Ogun State government for its total support to the programme informed that during the camp/clinic, various personnel are anticipated to give inspirational talk to the girls on various topics, adding that these young girls would learn the basic knowledge of the game during camping which is also an avenue to improve their knowledge of the game.
“I will like to express on behalf of Hope 4 Girls our profound appreciation to Ogun State government for providing the platform for the camp and also wish to state that participants with potentials stand the chance being taken to colleges in the United States of America. Our concern is their future and this camp exercise provides this opportunity” Akiode said.
Meanwhile, the initiator and founder Hope 4 Girls organisation who was a member of Nigeria Female National Team to 2004 Athens Olympics Games thus informed that the duo of Col. Sam Ahmedu and Pastor Skambo Morrision of Gilali Foundation, Abuja would serve as camp directors.
