As Kano Pillars play host to league leaders, 3SC FC of Ibadan at the Sani Abacha Stadium, coach of the team, Salisu Yusuf has said he is expecting a fierce battle against the visitors who would not like to drop the three points without a fight.
While Pillars are tenth on the table, 3SC is sitting majestically on top of the table and have promised to beat their host in order to maintain their enviable position.Speaking to Trustsports yesterday, Yusuf said he is expecting something positive from the encounter but was quick to add that 3SC will be a hard nut to crack.
According to him, his players are not doing badly but they have to step up their game if they are to subdue their opponents today.
He said: “We are supposed to be on top of the table or around there but right now we are on the tenth position which is not good enough. We have to win tomorrow’s (today) match to move up the table.
“My players are not doing badly but they must step up their game. It is not going to be an easy match but we are ready for 3SC. They are leading the table and would not want to lose because it will make them leave their present position.
“Against Kwara United, we played very well but luck was not on our side that was why we did not get a positive result. We just hope that against 3SC, the God of soccer will be with us”.
Salisu said the absence of the team’s number one goalkeeper who got a red card in the match against Kwara will not affect the chances of his team.
On his part, the General Manager of 3SC, Mr. Mutiu Adepoju told Trustsports that they are in Kano to take the maximum points and remain on top of the table.
He said his team is aware of the fact that defeat against Pillars will mean automatic loss of the top spot.
Adepoju said he is taking a highly motivated team to Kano to confront Pillars.
“It is not going to be an easy match. Pillars FC is not a push over and we know this fact. However, we are not going to over respect them. We are hoping to get a positive result so as to remain on top of the table”.
The former international attributed his team’s good run in the league to hard work, discipline, total dedication and unity of purpose.
