Basketball will soon be household sport - Imasuagbon

As efforts towards grassroots sports development gather momentum, a sports enthusiast in the FCT Barrister Kenneth Imasuagbon has declared readiness to contribute his quota in ensuring that basketball the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, is made more popular than it is presently.

Speaking to sports journalists in Abuja recently, the proprietor of Pacesetters Academy and sponsor of many grassroots sports competitions said as other residents of the city contemplate on how to develop other sports in the FCT, he has made up his mind to develop basketball so that the game would be a household sport. He disclosed that to achieve his objective, he was working hand in hand with some American friends who have shown readiness to partner him in the lofty dream.

Imasuagbon assured that with the support he will be getting from his foreign partners, youths in Abuja would soon have so many competitions in basketball just as he maintained that it won’t take long for that to happen.

“By the special grace of God, very soon, we would be seeing basketball competitions in the FCT. I hope that my discussions with my American friends will actualize. If that happens, we would be staging so many basketball championships in across the FCT. We would be developing basketball in such a way that the game will become synonymous with Abuja,” he said.

Although he spoke so passionately about developing the game of basketball, he said it will not be a case of carrying all eggs in one basket as youths who have talents in other sports would be encouraged to develop such talents. He said those who are good in sprints would be encouraged to take to athletics just as those who show ability to play other games such as badminton, volleyball, tennis, hockey and the rest would be given all the necessary encouragement.
